    Guppies

For younger children who are not quite ready for the swim team, the Guppy program is a better option. The Guppies are typically 4-6 years old and must be potty trained.  Guppies will have their own separate practices where they focus on swimming more confidently unassisted, kicking, breathing, floating, and free-style and backstroke basics. Guppies must want to swim. Some children need to participate in the Guppy program for two years before they are ready to move up to the swim team. Guppies who show the ability have the option to "move up" to the swim team during the season, but this move is a joint decision between the coaches and parents.

Guppies do not need a team suit. They can wear whatever swimsuit they desire.

    2026 Meet Schedule

    Guppy Meets - TBD

The guppy "meet" will be very low-key, last an hour or so, and the Coaches and helpers are in the water with the swimmers the entire time. This is a fun way for the guppies to show off all the things they have learned!

    Parent Responsibilities

At the Guppy meets, parents will operate the stopwatches for just the Canebrake guppies, and they will also write the times on the ribbons. As said above, the meets are very low-key, and nothing is "official." No training is necessary.
